Which decade do you want to play in?

Hi there my Friends,

Recently a client ask me the all too familiar question “whats in fashion”?  I replied which decade do you like?

There are so many ‘Micro trends’ and the world is moving so fast nothing is really sticking.

Good news, express who you want to be.   Make the trend fit lifestyle and how feminine you want to be.  If you have not already downloaded my consultation please go to this link.  It will empower your ‘connecting and creative skills’.         http://hairdesignertv.com/downloads/The-Consultation-stylists.pdf

Ok so as you glance through Spring trends 2014, Yes its the hairdresser crisis;- Where is my Black?

Its all about color and prints.  So how do we hairstylists and colorists interpret the trends?  These are some ideas from my collections. I hope you enjoy.

REMEMBER MY FRIENDS

A GREAT STYLE SHOULD COMPLETE THE LOOK, AND NOT COMPETE WITH THE LOOK.

I would combine RAZOR Geometric shapes  to these silhouettes. 20′ 60’s inspired.

Precision razor shapes.

I love the freedom of creating looks from different decades but find it hard to not make the hair look dated or out of date or theatricla. Making a hairstyle from another time period look up to date is truly a challenge. What is it that makes a “retro” style look up to date?

Hi Becci a retro style is inspired from another period of time, and made modern when fused with today’s sensibility,
for example – taking a 20s structure and making it less formal and more relaxed.

I find that when I do something like finger waves they are very defined and perfect. I feel proud that I did the waves so well but feel they look stiff. Once I was frustrated with the waves and so I tousled, messed and ruffed up her hair and to my surprise it looked so much better! Thanks for your inspiration! 🙂
