Curl or not to curl that is the question?

Hi there my friends, As a girl with a natural curl over the years I have had a love hate relationship with curls. Today I embrace the movement and variety of texture.   On a commercial level I Love the femininity of curls as they soften a woman face. But remember a style must never sacrifice suitability – face shape, age and life style.

Never compromise the Golden rule of creating an oval face shape, Curls create volume so the volume must be in the correct position. Lifting opening or closing the face.

Life style if the client is ‘Bohemian’ and young she can carry undone relaxed curls.  This relaxed look on an older women could look like a hot mess!

Tight curls on a young girl can look cute and modern, (doll like see below) on an older women she can look like a poodle with a bad perm. REMEMBER hair is a vital accessory to the world of fashion.

PS this is the same model left and right -first I cut into the models hair into a blunt bob, for her second look I did a rag set to create this amazing texture.

So when you pick a curl type – remember total suitability and Fashion.

I reference my “Curl chart”   1# poker straight to 10# Afro tight.

When I look at a client I determine where she naturally sits on my curl chart. Then I can select the perfect tool. Tongs, rollers, Rag set, pin curl set, wet or dry set.

I also consider the longevity of the style, should it last 1 or 7 days.
