People by into the leader, then the vision. You cannot cast a vision and expect buy-in until they have bought you!
As the owner of HairDesignerTv.com I realize that there are two types of leadership one that is earned while the other is demanded. I lead from a place of empower directing and encourage my team to step into their greatness. The other is “do as I say, I am the Boss and I pay your salary.” This is a good example of authority, but not leadership. I favor winning trust and respect, which only comes when people ‘Buy in’ to my vision. Lets go deeper with this idea as it plays out in our public and private lives.
Talking about private lives how many of you struggle getting your kids to Buy in to your vision, “Go to bed! its good for you to have 8 hour sleep”! But mum I am not tired! Ok you relate lets move on.
When I worked on this collection the Golden Age and Regal Opulence , it was a LONG journey. Dear Rosemary an art team member worked for days assisting me as we shared the journey with mutual support. At first I thought this is going to be a disaster as it was a challenge. Each day I questioned, is this going to work? As it was very ugly before it became beautiful.
It was Rosemary who encouraged me, she bought into my vision and kept me on track when I lost confidence. (see below the video of the journey) I know you will love this film.

- Why Buy in? It develops relationships and trust.
- How to Buy in? By helping followers achieve their goals.
Lets look at your clientele, and yes you are the leader, and your clients should be following your lead and expertise.
Question – Am I giving my clients time to Buy in? Is my vision truly right for others, or just right for me?
